So now that we’re done laughing about cummies, uh, what exactly is it gonna mean that with “Daddy” the culture has whipped up a new form for "the male leader of a hetero woman’s life" drawing on The Father, The Husband, and The Guy Who Grooms You On The Internet?

Thought the first: But wasn’t The Husband always just The Father seen from a different angle? Maybe this is just a new generation blending the egalitarian soulmate ideal with older gender-marked roles, leveraging the fact gender distinctions retain more legitimacy in parents but not spouses – it’s seen that some things JUST ARE daddy things and some things JUST ARE mommy things, but if some things are husband things and some things are wife things, that’s a sign that inherent equality was tainted with patriarchal corruption or something.

And so the “the one who uniquely matches you” soulmate + “the type to lead and direct” patriarchal Husband/Father = Daddy, who leads you in working through even your kinks that you don’t yet understand

(and the equivalent, in ASMR idiom, for the “mommy gf”)

Thought the second: maybe it’s about recognizing male-directed sexual grooming as parallel to female-directed childraising as part of the process of social reproduction
