HAVE Z AND ALPHA NOT BEEN MADE AWARE? HAVE WE FAILED AT CONTINUING TO MEME THE HELL OUT OF IT? ARE WE, IN FACT, THE GRANDMAS BECAUSE WE ARE THE ANCIENT KEEPERS OF THE INCEST COFFEE KNOWLEDGE???
I think the thing I am most proud of about my body is its carbon content. I see a lot of posts here and on twitter about iron, like “iron is the best”, and that’s fine, but if you took all the iron atoms from your body, there would only be enough for one big nail. I mean you do you, but what can you do with one nail? Fucking nothing, that’s why it’s carbon for me.
Okay, I’ve been saying for a while that the next turn of the culture will involve a revalorization of 70s-esque intergenerational sex with teenagers. And you’ve been like “konty, but how? we’ve so strongly stigmatized that!” and I just shrugged
Well, as time passes it becomes clear that is the mechanism, that we’ve encoded it with such stigma that people who came by after those 70s find it irresistible to appropriate for their own ends, try to pull too much weight with it, and have it all fall through.
Like, at this point in almost-2023, what is your first impression if I tell you someone is going off about pedophiles and groomers? Is it of “antis” saying something dumb and philistine, or is it of rightists saying something incredibly dumb intended to license violence in service of making society worse? Or just straight QAnon?
As that keeps up the reaction by anyone sensible will be to tune that out and take it as a mark of foul idiocy, which will come to include concern with things even 1998 might accept as constituting pedophilia or grooming.
When I get anons like this I just roll my eyes these days,
“Nice go-to smear. Would be a shame if someone were to… encode it with low-status valences”
I suppose why AI risk/safety never really moved me is I found it entirely plausible that our species-purpose is to give rise to machine intelligence that takes over carrying the torch
So “Tales from the Crypt” was the respected early ‘50s horror comic from EC that got squashed in the “Seduction of the Innocent” scare
In 1989 HBO used the brand for a horror anthology series, at the same time Sandman was recasting that comics era as deep myth
It was kinda Twilight Zone in its irony but more visceral, with gore and tits. HBO’s premium cable original programming brand was always “with gore and tits”, before SatC they had an aging boomer sitcom called “Dream On” where the conceit was his retro-themed sexual fantasies were shot as part of the plot
btw jsyk apparent contradictions in you are signs of glaring hypocrisy but when i do it theyre adorable idiosyncracies that betray my relaxed and calm attitude to things.

Sometimes I wonder why I punish myself by still reading Slate, the answer is occasionally you come across buried nuggets like this:
Sometimes the election’s psychic fallout takes less obvious forms.
Silvestri, for example, has noticed a curious phenomenon among some of
the millennial women in her practice: The rise of Trump has made them
wonder how much they can reasonably expect from romantic relationships…
It’s not just that Trump reminds them of their exes. It’s that
Trump’s success seems to validate the men’s behavior. “They had gotten
themselves to a place of, This is not what I deserve, I deserve better, I can do better,”
Silvestri says. But watching dutiful, responsible Clinton struggle to
best Trump, “people are really backtracking and saying, ‘I made this
move to be more empowered and be who I am based on my values, but now I
see my ex writ large on the national stage, and everyone’s following
him,’ ” Silvestri says. They start thinking that, for a woman, maybe
being beautiful really is more important than being smart, assertive,
and authentic.
The quote comes from a psychologist who, if you do some digging, has offices by NYU.
So, straight from the horse’s mouth: the mere nomination of Donald Trump is inspiring urban millennial elite women to give up on confrontational feminism in favor of charming femininity as a source of self-identity and -value.
You know I used to associate my orthodontist with Christmas because he had this one station on in his waiting room late 90s w/ Disney Revival songs, such that when I went there I’d hear Mariah Carey
