one of the worst genres of tumblr post is “attempt at thoughtful emotional prose from a person who has read nothing but fanfic since they graduated from high school”
while i appreciate the general response nobody has yet really understood why i like these kind of posts so much. It’s not even necessarily what they are saying in detail what’s interesting to me - more the fact that they exist and that they are popular.
Like I have yet to see another social media where one of the main genre of posts is about the nature of the site itself.
Like, imagine a bunch of people on insta just posting things like:
“haha instagram ruined my picture quality again haha you get this nowhere else this is so special i love it here #hellsite ”
it just doesn’t happen. it’s such a tumblr specific experience to connect through the sole fact that we are all using the same website and making funny little posts about it. you don’t get this anywhere else.
just so you know 'jfc' (which you use in a lot of the tags on your posts) is an abbreviation for jesus fucking christ and you probably shouldnt use it if ur not a christian

Appreciate the dynamic where I can treat [tumblr] as a personal conversation with my friends but if I post something interesting enough millions (or at least large fractions of such) of people see it anyway
Always wild to see posts that have been – or at least introduced things that have been – canonized on [tumblr] and realize you have several posts with more notes you’ve more or less forgotten about

And some of you may not have heard this peak of human culture, but… just after Twitter purchase by Elon Musk got confirmed, a bunch of (serious) journalist put together a Twitter Space (a live audio streaming where any of the attendees can ask to participate) about what was going to happen next, and … @tumblr joined. And… they invited tumblr to speak. I can’t describe how much joy this moment brought me and how fucking proud made me of being part of our little entropy generator here:
