So where is the Sandman show at? All I’ve picked up so far is

• They’ve done the Recovering the Helm/Sand/Ruby introductory story
• They’ve done the “Keys to Hell” story
• Daniel’s shown up already
• The Corinthian’s shown up already

No they didn’t. They did do “what power do dreams have in Hell” though

Anyway, they finished Doll’s House, and have done a few one off stories (like Hob Gadling and Calliope.) Keys to Hell will almost certainly start the next season. And yeah, Death got her moneyshot lines.

But not that moneyshot line; that one’s from book 7. And no, Daniel’s still a fetus at this point.

Ah, I fear I may have been misled into thinking someone was reacting to the show when they were really “given that my memory is prompted, let’s disgorge all my saved-up Sandman thoughts now”

This is a real drawback of casting the dark-skinned Kirby Howell-Baptiste in the Netflix adaptation: first, the pale skin/black tank/silver ankh contrast isn’t as firm

But second, that it’s not as clear she and Robert Smith-ass Dream and Patrick Nagel Desire are related (and dumpy Despair, while Destruction is actually suntanned painting in the wilderness)

It’s not dispositive, that’s the kind of thing “she’s good” can in fact outweigh (and I notice they’re lighting her to distinguish the skin & ankh from the tee), not to mention “the more she looks like Kate Bush the more obvious shes not Kate Bush”. But it is in fact something.

Cursed thought: the Homestuck typing quirks are just how you would do Sandman’s Endless speech bubbles if you were rendering dialog with a computer instead of manual ink lettering

The DC movies gotta start pulling the background metanarrative stuff the Marvel movies were doing with the Infinity Stones, but with the helm/dreamstone/sand pouch/Cain/Abel from the beginning of Sandman.

On the one hand, I’d love this.

On the other, can you imagine going from Suicide Squad 2 or whatever it ends up being into reference-heavy painfully literary metafictional narrative-as-puzzle territory? Everyone in the theater on opening night would need treatment for whiplash.
