From what I can tell, the concept of the Holy Spirit was elevated to totally undue importance by the early Christian church because they were like “the number 3 is fucking awesome. It’s tight as hell and mystical as shit, and it’s definitely related to God somehow.”

So they tacked it on last minute to the other two entities who are actually important and who have a clear and distinct difference between them, the Father and Son. Because they needed a third thing, because the number 3 fuckin whips ass, and they wanted it in their religion.

the trinity is just Christian circumcision.

It was the mechanism by which the Godly power was still active in (and through) the Jesus cult after his execution

Stripped of miracle, the gospels are an entirely rote version of what you would expect the biography of a new religious movement’s founder to look like, based on what all the historically documented and contemporary ones do

And Pentecost – “after the founder’s death, his inner circle revealed a doctrine whereby their evangelism was continuous with, really the same thing as him and the Hebrew God, before dispersing to found follow-up institutions” is EXACTLY what you would expect

Pentecost

Do you realize how A+ Boss amazing it is that Christianity incorporates the classic Religious Studies insight, “critical doctrines (like ‘the Holy Spirit’) were invented after the founder’s death to legitimize continuity” into the official mytho-narrative?
