With an old and worthy friend of the blog I was exploring the appeal of MLP to us boys of the ‘80s.

I think that a fully realized world in which being a good person results in things working is exactly the escapist fantasy we need right now.

I also wonder if it’s instead just a signal that I’ve forgotten childhood and grown sentimental enough to breed. I wonder if it’s that after abandoning the idea of being bound to allegiance I’m looking for something to swear allegiance to such that it matters. I wonder if those things are different. Touché, bougie Christianity, the older I get the deeper I tip my hat to you.

it’s really interesting how guys post femslash that works the same way as other fandoms where fems post guyslash, as a mechanism to explore emotions, vulnerability, the same hurt/comfort dynamics, etc. This is not how I remember Fairchild/Freefall pairings working in geocities gen13 shrines when I was 14.
