much criticism of “teen mood songs” like Evanescence etc. is basically saying oh you’re feeling sad are you, well suck it up you little bitch, nobody wants to hear your honest expression of misery and hope and beauty when you could just internalise it and make sarcastic references to being a piece of garbage instead

ironically this is what I valued Garbage for as a moody teen
