I wonder if that’s what people have been using to take out transformers at power substations. Folks were all like “what are you even gonna do with a .50 cal rifle?” but “destroying materiel from a distance” is in fact the intended use case

nah, all they have to do is put some holes in the plastic casing and let the coolant drain out. it doesn’t happen fast, but it doesn’t take more than a deer rifle. the fifty-cal is more for taking out armored things, or working from longer range than a couple hundred yards. (it actually wouldn’t make an appreciably larger hole in a light plastic housing.)
