Just saw a commercial for the local Toyota dealership using a scratchy B&W filter to play up their historic ties
And that’s something real, the PNW aside from Seattle has historically been the most distant-from-Midwestern-industry AND the closest-to-Japan part of the mainland
Maybe it’s distorted by them repairing better, but the 80s cars I see on the street are overwhelmingly imports, with a few domestic compact pickups
(away from the black parts of town that still rep Buick and Cadillac and Oldsmobile sedans)
Even the pre-80s market is less domestic. No low-riders like LA which fair, but past that 70s Toyotas and more Volkswagen Things than I’ve ever seen.
The granola 80s station wagon market is a lot more Subaru and less Volvo than the east coast, and not enough old BMW diesels to support frier-oil conversion business
