Thinking about Mike Judge’s “the workplace sucks” in Office Space (1999) vs. “workers and employment regulations suck” in Extract (2009) and I think a lot of it isn’t even a white collar/blue collar divide so much as producerism – first, Office Space is employee vs. management while in Extract it’s vs. small business ownership, but moreover in Extract the employees are supposed to be producing a product, while what are they making in Office Space? TPS reports.

Contrast with The Office, where they’re making paper, the chief input to clerical work. They are literally producing the institution of the office.
