You ever think about how between The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy, animation kinda stole Broadway’s leading role in American musical theater in the ‘90s?

MLP was later, but I guess it did really start with the Disney Renaissance. Hm, maybe link to AIDS’ devastation of the Broadway community in the ‘80s

Yeah but by reviving the whole ball-gown Hollywood musical tradition, the Disney Renaissance kinda was an outgrowth of old Dixie culture though, I don’t think Belle’s golden dress happened without Scarlett’s gowns.
