When Badger flops over now he will let me touch him without upset more thoroughly than any cat I’ve seen that was not already a bag of bones
These days Badger spends most of the day asleep in my eyeline.
My and Badger’s relationship continues to improve: we’ve established better norms around when I’m eating in the chair in the front room, and now when he posts up near me if it’s cause he’s looking to get stroked he mrrs a little as my hand approaches and if not I just touch him briefly and withdraw before I irritate him
Badger demonstrated his ability to scamper up a trunk I cut short and jump in a window he hadn’t before. (He had to meow my attention to open it first)
Even when Badger meows for food early now it’s more speculative and willing to take no for an answer
Paying bills always fun with Badger around; dude is obsessed with cellophane
Badger is mature enough I mostly see him either lying down or on his way to lie down somewhere these days
totally lording my primate physiology over Badger when I hold my hot meat protein out of reach and he’s meowing helplessly from the counter I have all my dried fruits out on
So did make it to 24 hours between creatine scoops yesterday but woke up 17 hours in the kinda drained that makes it real tough to get out of a warm bed, eventually Badger meowed me out to the front room
Ugh, been home long enough to wear off any honeymoon effect and now Badger keeps trying to cajole food out of me earlier every day
Badger honestly does pretty well adapting to someone who’s regularly different flavors of crazy
I’ve found that getting along with Badger mostly involves accepting that each day he’s gonna want to spend a certain amount of time in the same room as me, a certain amount within 6 feet of me in my line of sight, and a certain amount in contact with me, and planning around that as I conduct my business
Just saw Badger deliver a frankly impressive performance of stalking down a buzzing fly
Badger seems convinced that the reason I left him alone for a week is he was too annoying meowing for food, which is both psychically terrible and so convenient I’m going to make no effort to disabuse him
So while I’ve been going through this little phase I’ve also been reconnecting with Badger after over a week away, the two being fairly compatible as a source of comfort and minor motion to slump over were useful
