I know Badger is unlikely to live to 20 but I don’t think I’ll really consider him halfway through his life already until he’s at least 11

“Winter weather being newly hostile” is one of the things that prompts him to cleave to me, so since the snow Badger’s been spending a lot of time sphinxing up in petting range

Haven’t got Badger to sit in my lap on a chair yet, but I have got him to perch on my leg.

Well, today was kind of a scrub, but I got in some important cuddling with Badger.

Just stepped out and heard Badger meowing but couldn’t find him and eventually located him on the garage roof

Relationship with Badger at the point he often doesn’t even meow when he wants food, he just keeps nuzzling me to get my attention with love. Every 4 minutes for like an hour.

Me and Badger have an awfully nuanced relationship given I never talk to him, like at most I’ll say “Hey, Badger” or just “cat!”

Definitely reaching the point where Badger’s been indoors for the winter so long he’s not all luvvy and increasingly takes me and my tolerance for granted

Housecats are crepuscular animals, most active around dawn and dusk, when both nocturnal and diurnal prey is at the very edge of their optimal conditions, and I appreciate that at least in the winter, at least in the nights between, Badger tries to stay by my side (presumably, to share body heat)

Jesus, cold absolutely radiating through the windows, not gonna miss those when they’re upgraded. (And the new ones sure won’t be double-hung)

Immensely glad I got Badger to go in and out through the basement rather than have to keep the study rear window cracked; for when I split off the basement unit (and replace said window with a door to the patio) I’m gonna have to get some sorta airlock put in off the study side window or something
