just looked at Badger eating out of his dish and struck by how ridiculous it was that I have this fully-featured but miniature quadruped predator stalking around my house for decorative and entertainment value
groping for a way to phrase this I decided pets were like some real-life version of Warcraft pets
Cleaned house and found a pretty impressive selection of twist ties, rubber bands, and elastic hairbands that Badger must have been assembling from outdoor ground debris
>that mixed feel when you look out a window and see someone on the sidewalk petting a cat and smile and think about how you should find your cat to pet only to realize that’s your cat they’re petting
Cats that have shown up in my yard since Badger moved in, and the names I gave them
Leo - a Maine Coon-looking guy with a big white mane. First one to show up, he and Badger get along. I’ve been told he lives with an old guy on the block and used to hang out with another old-timer’s cat until the cat and then the man died.
Kevin - a grey cat that would show up when Badger & Leo hang out and wait nervously nearby as if waiting to be invited. Reminded me of a guy named Kevin.
Creamsicle - a fat orange tabby, Badger came retreating thru the window once all tense and I looked out and he was there. I went to kick him out and he didn’t retreat at all at my approach; I picked him up and he was docile so I tried introducing the two; when he got close enough he hissed and clawed at Badger so I yelled at him and dumped him out of the yard.
Luna - all-black cat I’ve only seen once, sheltering in a stand of bamboo
Alright, you want pics, here’s a later meeting with Creamsicle where there was a bit of hissing but they ultimately agreed to hang out in proximity studiously ignoring each other
Just went to take a leak and when I looked out the window Leo was staring straight at me with Kevin? Luna? could be the same cat in different light?s nose up his butt
By the time I got my camera up Leo sauntered aside looking embarrassed and then Badger came by like “hey guys what’s up?”

like he’ll do the exact same “lead me through the house, looking backwards at every room transition to make sure I’m following, until you reach the closed window and look back and mewl until I fix it” thing, only the window’s already open

Since I gave him outside access he shits God knows where, so to get it I had to keep him inside two days until he shit in the litter box, whining at me and every door or window all the time
But that was Saturday, when they’re only open til 1pm and closed Sunday, and the sample needs to be max 24 hours refrigerated, so I let him out but kept him in Sunday, and he’s whining, and I occasionally pick him up and deposit him in the litter box and he finally pissed after a day but no feces, and he’s whining, and he’s been eating and I can feel his guts are full and he’s whining and it’s like I AM PERFECTLY WILLING TO LET YOU OUT, JUST SHIT IN THE GODDAMN BOX
