I know I’ve been saying this for a while but every week I have an even better relationship with my cat. It’s great, and we should have at least a decade to go

Badger coming in through a window to a room where I have mostly but imperfectly wiped up a spill and sniffingly detectiving around like “something happened here…”

Wondering if there mightn’t have been something to that thing at the end of my crazy summer 2020 where I was seeing a Parasite Eve wireframe sphere indicating an enlarged hearing radius. For the third time, today I noticed Badger stalking across a tall-grass field from a while away by hearing him, that doesn’t feel right

Badger has been very non-irritatingly clingy these past few days. Like being around me has suddenly moved several slots up his priority list but he doesn’t particularly need anything else from me.

Badger realizing that he can snooze snuggled with me in bed after his morning meal best if he picks a spot next to my lower legs and not between them, so I can flail around a bit and not upset him

Badger keeps jumping up there from the windowsill and then complaining there’s no clear angle to jump back

Oh, Badger brought a mouse home for the first time in a while and it was only faking death! I’m not sarcastic here, I really do think it’s wild to see my everyday environment suddenly become some sort of nature documentary

I think at some point I must have been so drunk I forgot I fed Badger his dinner and did it again 40 minutes later, I can’t figure out why elsewise he’d try meowing again so soon like that

Badger just finally stood – not sat, not yet – on my lap, for years until now he’s only stepped across me to something else

Badger is now imploring for food at such weird hours he must have scammed off someone else cause I can’t tell what possibly makes him think I’m going to feed him then

One of the things about Badger’s maturing stolidity I appreciate most is when I say “hold on I’ll be right back” and go to another room for like 10 seconds he actually stays there.

On the plus side, my solar USB charger works fine and I’m reaffirmed that I’m just the right amount of prepared.

Skritching Badger and at first somehow taken aback to realize that housecats have in fact been with us through a long architectural history of houses and then again to realize that even so, compared to a human, a cat is many more generations removed from any point in history.

Badger, thankfully, has stopped meowing long before he’s due to be fed but an exception is if I’m standing at the counter I fill his bowl at, which is where I prepare other things too, with the overall effect that my cat just seems to be a huge asshole about making sandwiches

Badger has a good chance of being alive when I turn 50.

Badger has a cold for the first time, sniffling and sneezing. He’s fully vaccinated for outdoors, so should just be a novel experience.

It’s his first birthday.

It was the second anniversary of his adoption

It’s his third birthday!

It’s his fourth birthday.

It was his fifth birthday yesterday, though he doesn’t interact with the door the same way anymore, he looks out front through the big window and when he thirsts for fresh air he just goes outside, you see that last pic was really forcing/faking it

I think Badger is starting to realize I’m looking at the internet on my phone when he’s curled up blissfully getting skritched at my crossed legs and gets pissy about it
