Badger all lazy and warmth-seeking but still insists in being in the same room so when I go to the kitchen he uncurls from the bed, pads in, and flops over in front of the vent
Ok Badger was gnawing on a meat bone I have no idea where he got
With the colder weather Badger hanging out in my room more, which is nice, but it means setting boundaries that I’m not going to drop things to skritch him just because he’s there anymore
Just knee-walked across a room to grab something off the floor and then backed up, and I think Badger was a little startled because he didn’t realize I could move like that
He was so insistent to get me to come out to the front room

Ope! Now he scared it under and then out from my bed and pounced and bit through its spine. That earns him treats!

I cannot emphasize enough that at this point my and Badger’s relationship is a reciprocal “I’m quite aware of him and given the chance I often try to provide what his deep urges want but I don’t usually try all that hard”

So in Fall Mode, Badger does the thing where he comes hang out in my bedroom on my bed, but also the thing where I wake up and he’s just gone and I have to hope he comes back in an hour or two
It wasn’t obvious at first, but owning a cat makes it much more practical to have windows without screens because if any flying bug tries to take up residence in the house, sooner or later Badger will eat it
Realize Badger abandoning clinginess months ago was really just going out more for the hot season and now he’s rediscovering the indoors
Realizing that responding to Badger’s first premature meows with a firm “NO” yields much better results than silently enduring them
Badger just anxiously whining at a bowl of chicken tikka masala cause he can’t figure out what to try and steal
I think he’s felt the cold coming on but he’s totally switched up his regular lazing itinerary to what he was doing last winter
