it’s disgusting that ikea exists. international finance capital making styleless, placeless cardboard ‘furniture’ that isn’t even worth the cost of moving it. the assembly instructions are all diagrams so they can abstract away from human language. don’t fall for it! buy furniture from the artisans of yr nation and pass it down to yr kids so they can pass it down to theirs. if you want cheap shit, hit an antique store & know someone who has a truck

For the spirit, I also have furniture that my great-grandparents owned. (They were the ones who bought from artisans and threw out the poverty crates of my great-great-grandparents.) But you should know that IKEA produces things other than “cheap shit” and “cardboard”.

I had an IKEA bedframe that when I replaced went to saw apart and reuse as wood only to find it was just vaneer and chipboard and yes, cardboard.

But I’ve had a side table of solid wood for a decade and a half now that I never stained but has picked up enough atmospheric oils from existing in enclosed spaces with living (, cooking) beings long enough it’s developed a charming finish, I like that
