Portland has as many Hawaiian transplants as makes sense if you look at a map, but it’s still more than you expect

So you have those rear-window stickers of the islands, or the turtles, and “808” references, and a lot of good Hawaiian-modern places, plate lunch and spam musubi and Asian fusion food where it’s like the midwestern mass-market American stuff was introduced late as the exotic element
