Elon Musk’s Twitter Revolution

Like seriously, imagine going back a few years to show them, as the outcome of the ‘10s, that Moldbug was getting commissioned for articles on how reorganization towards autocratic freedom in service of capitalowners will help Twitter

Inside the New Right, Where Peter Thiel Is Placing His Biggest Bets

When last decade got really bad I took comfort in the fact that everyone I hated teaming up to push things the exact wrong way meant that the next zeitgeist to follow in reaction would necessarily be in my favor.

So now when they’re like “Guess what’s hot in the Manhattan downtown scene and poised to be the next thing nationwide? Jaded online cultural critics who’ve read Moldbug!” I’m just like “Sure.”

If you are like most Americans, you think you know Amazon. Recent polling shows that 72 percent of us view the company favorably. This makes it the second-most-trusted institution in the country, after the military. A 2018 study found that Amazon is the only institution to appear among the five most trusted by both Democrats and Republicans. And the Covid pandemic has made Amazon ever more dominant. Industry research estimates that there are now 153 million Prime members in the United States, nearly as many as the number of voters in the 2020 election. About 40 percent of online purchases in the country take place on the site, at the low range of estimates — compared with roughly 7 percent on the site of its closest competitor, Walmart.

Utterly diseased nation. Hell earth hell earth hell earth

Recently, my country (Russia) started an invasion of a neighboring country (Ukraine), you probably heard about it in the news. Just a week befaore that me and a few other people had opened the first kinkfest in our fandom, which consists of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian fans. Of course, when the war started, we wanted to close the event because it seemed disrespectful (I mean, people die there, how can we think about porn). But we didn't do this, because a huge number of participants wrote to us, begging to keep the fest alive. As an organizer, I sort out mail from this participants every day. And I read how the they ask: is it possible to slightly increase the duration of the fest, I don’t have time to draw art, because there is no light in the bomb shelter? Or they write: tell the author of this text that their fanfic was the only thing that distracted me from the pain while I was in the hospital with a wound after the shelling. Every day someone says "thank you, it's the only thing that keeps me from going crazy". I always knew fandom was a place for escapism, but right now I'm watching hundreds of people survive the apocalypse one porn fanfic at a time. There is no moral here, I just wanted to share an observation with someone who is not directly involved in the events.

Left Democrats all “don’t the centrists realize the Republicans are going to crush us? They’re not moving an inch from their centrist pose, guess not” while center Democrats all “don’t the leftists realize the Republicans are going to crush them? They’re not moving an inch from their leftist pose, guess not”

Can someone explain to me how we got to gamer being a sexual archetype of male golden-hearted innocence , ala “golden retriever gamer boy”( the new stereotypical man for a bi woman to date according to tik-tok) , like we went from gamers being childish in a violent mean spirited way to being synonymous with misogynistic nerds to this? How do streamers factor in? Are video games such a ubiquitous hobby now that all it signals is “ introverted and sorta masc?“ as oppose to sporty and extroverted?, is then an indirect autistic fetishization thing? Like manic pixie dream girl? I feel like I’m out of the loop , I feel like I missed a couple steps.

@kontextmaschine this seems like a you thing,

Thru some combination of just getting old and not making the jump to the post-text internet I’m not in touch with the youth anymore enough to be picking up on this

The crux of the Ketanji Brown Jackson hearings is the Republicans understand that the outcome of this process is she is installed on the court, their only margin of play is to make it “cost” enough – confirm to swing voters the Republican narrative of Democratic threat enough, validate there being any point to themselves – as they can. They’re not making the kind of attacks that could peel off D votes.
