In case it’s not clear or you don’t want to read the thread, the FBI submitted screenshots of 8chan threads to court, apparently not realizing that although it’s an anonymous message board, replying to your own comments will show a little (You) to mark them as such, as seen here:
The (You) is only visible to the poster. The ID number will also remain the same, so those with ID: 8f4812 are likely employed by the government in some form:
The British government has prepared for terrorist incidents by pre-planning social media campaigns that are designed to appear to be a spontaneous public response to attacks, Middle East Eye has learned.
Hashtags are carefully tested before attacks happen, Instagram images selected, and “impromptu” street posters are printed.
In operations that contingency planners term “controlled spontaneity”, politicians’ statements, vigils and inter-faith events are also negotiated and planned in readiness for any terrorist attack.
I fully believe this based on the inorganic way the numerous 2017 terror attacks were received and reacted to by the public
The day after the London Bridge attacks, a team of men arrived at the scene of the murders in an unmarked van.
They could be seen being admitted behind the police cordon, where
they plastered walls with a number of posters bearing images of London,
and number of hashtags that were already circulating on Twitter:
#TurnToLove, #For London and #LoveWillWin.
This practice, known in the UK as fly-posting, is a minor criminal
offence, but police admitted the members of the fly-posting team behind
their cordon and took no action. The men doing this work declined to
tell journalists who they were, or where they were from.
When the cordon was eventually lifted and members of the public were
able to return to the scene of the attacks, they found themselves
surrounded by apparently impromptu signs of the public’s defiance and
unity.
Anonymous asked: hey what's a tradcath here and should I care (for some reason I autocompleted it to "traditional Cathy", as though Cathy was jargon I knew (I don't))
“traditionalist Catholic”, which is another one of the new political tribes, or multi-tribe clans, we have to be aware of now
In a lot of ways they’re looking for the thick identity of pre-70s American white ethnic Catholicism
Been elements of it building for a while, particularly in the federal halo around Washington DC and North Idaho, which came together around a preference for the Church before the reforms of the “Vatican II” conference, and the old Latin Mass as a synecdoche of that
Possibly looks, and definitely claims to be the future of American Catholicism
Heir to a tradition of “Catholic Social Thought” as a third way between conservatism and liberalism with the Church as a mediator, developed during the European transition from feudalism and continuing into the “Christian Democratic” tradition into arguably George W Bush’s “faith based outreach” plans
Is aware of basically none of this, only interwar writing from churchmen and essayists that amounts to “Catholic Social Thought is a great idea, huzzah!”
Disproportionately seem to be first-generation converts to Catholicism from someone looking for a “serious” church, or if “cradle” Catholics, born to a generation (in the sense of a personal family or at least the Church) that drifted as it joined the middle class mainstream (though the trads probably blame it on Vatican II and bad catechism or something)
Types vary. The left wing, which is mostly on the young side and honestly IS also the policy-oriented and female wings, hovers around the insurgent left telling them that socialism earns them good boy points from mummy but do they have to be such meanies
Of the male side, the older part is guys who are proud to identify as Dad but not Daddy; priests arguing with Jesuits on the other side of Church politics; and academic assholes who enjoy a respected idiom to tell people that what they want is wrong and they are wrong for wanting it and that’s their will is of no importance and actively should be suppressed
The younger side is like 26 year olds who enjoy that same respected idiom to say Deus Vult! and curse degenerates and blame them for not having hot exclusive Fsub wives to bear their children, and like to pose as wise 1920s pipe-smokers about it all, kinda like the ideological equivalents of those daddy doms trying to look imposing in the JC Penney suit they got for their first office job. That and young priests crowing that now they’re clearing out the gay seminaries
and influence networks there’ll only be trad seminaries and influence
networks
There’s a new Howard Stern book coming out, which shows that in 2019 Simon & Schuster decided that Howard Stern is relevant enough to sustain a moment again
Stupidpol settling on “cluster B personality disorder” as their go-to idiom of dismissal is interesting; contrast it with the similar use of “autistic” in casual discourse and you have something like a psychiatricization of the question just how personal should the political be?
Like I knew white-people pop’s been getting blacker lately but thanks to an Uber driver I just realized black-people pop’s been getting white too, even these R&B songs that weren’t just blue-eyed soul were Enya-influenced
Poptimism finished its course correction . We know innovative art can be made in the pop genre and the pop industry machine. You can also make a transcendent blockbuster. but now it’s just an excuse to kiss corporate ass and suffocate stuff outside the attention economy and that’s the truth
twitch streamers acknowledging what you type in chat is the modern day equivalent of knights giving flowers to young women who have come to watch them joust
