Chinese internet trolls are adopting American racism to taunt Black users
"}Rest of World reviewed Xiaohongshu, Kuaishou, and Douyin \u2014 TikTok\u2019s sister app in China \u2014 and found hundreds of users with profile pictures of uniformed American cops or American-sounding usernames such as \u201cSheriff Roberson,\u201d \u201cCaptain America,\u201d and \u201cFlorida Jack, No. 5314.\u201d Others have changed their names to \u201cAbraham Lincoln\u201d, noting in parentheses that they \u201cregret liberating Black slaves.\u201d These accounts post racist remarks, harassing Black influencers and users with slang such as \u201cemptying the magazine,\u201d referring to how some U.S. police officers have fired multiple rounds at suspects.
