Hey so I can’t stop reading Small Town Noir, which takes mugshots from 1930s to 1960s arrests in New Castle and then constructs biographies of the people in the photos based mostly on newspaper records. There are hundreds of them and the biographies are often pretty detailed and sometimes impressively bleak. Apparently there’s a documentary coming at some point in the future?
Anyway, this is Sidney Fell, who was the son of Austrian Jewish immigrants and ran way from home and served in World War Two and ran a window-washing business and was super involved in musical theatre and died in 2007. He was arrested for sodomy in 1960 and served four to eight months in the county jail.
