Every ~4th day when I was on my Antarctic cruise, a passenger (who didn’t race to reception to beg to be taken off the list) had a birthday.
The food staff emerges with cake as the. WEIRDEST. birthday song played over the speakers. (Starts about 10s in the above recording.) Starts off normal, and then over 10 iterations, gets faster and faster and EDMier.
My family member was at the reception desk the very first night this happened and she reports that a frazzled-looking couple came to the desk and said “so the birthday thing… is it mandatory”
