Shame feels to me like dread of stepping off the socially-accepted precipice/dread of becoming an unworthy type of person in my own eyes.

Shame and guilt both seem like heavily socialized emotions to me. Like, their primitives definitely include a component of fear, which by itself can show up in contexts totally devoid of any social weight, but most of the things that we feel shame and guilt response to seem to be learned from interacting with other people.

Can speak from personal experience, shame and fear are definitely linked by way of anxiety
