It\u2019s called Eternal Flame Falls, in Orchard Park in western New York. 400 feet below the surface is a 400-million-year old shale formation that contains natural gas, and the grotto contains a leak where that gas is escaping.\u00a0 The flame can and does go out, but the gas can be re-lit with a lighter like a gas stove. It\u2019s super, super cool from both an aesthetic and a geologic perspective!
