Is it just confirmation bias or is the year 1984 disproportionately prominent in american pop-culture? Summer Olympics, Lone Wolf gamebooks, The Hunt for Red October, Neuromancer, , The Terminator, Beverly Hills Cop, Tetris (in Russia), Deep Purple reforming, Bon Jovi by Bon Jovi, Run-D.M.C by Run-D.M.C., the 1984 Superbowl Apple commercial, Lifetime launching, Voltron, The Transformers, etc.

I mean you could quite likely make equal-length lists of things coming from other years, and it wouldn’t be obvious why your list represented more “prominence in pop culture”. Tbh it kind of seems like a list of things that might seem particularly prominent to an American kid whose childhood was in the late 80s, which, yeah, a lot of that will be coming from 1984.
