I’ve been a regular at places before but totally unused to the way that having come to this bar since it opened and engaging with the bartenders with actual social skills the whole time (& I’m sure the tipping helps) I’m treated as like, a member of the family
The most interesting aspect of this is that the guy who works at a bunch of bars and is something of the “lead” that I originally thought was kinda a tool has come to accept me and softened and I realized his earlier attitude was basically tanking customers on behalf of his team
This is the closest bar to my house, if you had to pick only one to have this relationship at it would be this one. (The bar that used to be closest was one of the ones I had been a regular at!)
Anyway this is an example of how MMO concepts (“tanking”, “aggro”, “debuffs”, “the healer”) have displaced football concepts as the way we conceive reality
