How can you not know about St. Christopher, patron saint of travellers? Catholics often have a picture of him in their cars next to that old sticker for the London congestion fee from 2017 when they thought they’d drive to the UK to see what it’s all about before Brexit.

Are tradcaths (as an explicitly chosen lifestyle, generally recent and mildly reactionary, distinct from practicing Catholics who have been Catholic all or most of their life) even a thing in Europe?

I’d assumed that the particular expression of ‘overcompensate for modernity by changing your lifestyle wildly and performatively’ where the lifestyle chosen was Performatively Catholic was specifically an American thing.

We don’t have enough ‘normal’ Catholics to see that kind of thing around. Well, maybe in some communities that are still heavily Polish/Irish/Italian (and usually also working-class, the more bourgeois ones aren’t as reliably Catholic). But there aren’t a ton of those.
