Have you considered that your continued personal upward trajectory is in fact making the world worse, in a cosmic-balance kinda way? Normally I'd say it's implausible but given your main-character-of-life status, who knows?
I guess I have now, but one of my bigger insights from the last decade is that you can, and often effectively must, maintain an upward trend even in overall static times by constraining the denominator of your polity and giving upward-trending subgroups pride of place, so that flips from drawback waiting in the shadows to “oh no, I might win so hard that things start being all about me”
