In senior year of high school I had a semester spending the last period (of 4 block-scheduled ones) interning doing constituent service phone-answering for a state legislator’s office in town, and it was largely that I had been so advanced I was running out of offerings to take that year, but also in retrospect the school district was an elite-making machine (and the engine of local prosperity through exurban subdivision development) and like yeah, now I’m far more confident about interfacing with unheralded politicians and know some good levers to pull
