There were two people on the trolley initially, they\u2019re now both trapped inside the trolley. You do not know their name. They are both dead.

The trolley goes one way or the other, but there is no way to slow it down. It will crush them no matter which way it is going. The only action that will slow it down is, of course, to make a person walk in front of it.

The dead people do not want to be on the trolley.

Would they want to be walking in front of it? That\u2019s up for debate. If they walked in front of the trolley, they would die. They would not want that.

In what direction would a person have to walk in order for it to have the greatest chance of stopping the trolley, and to minimize their own mortality?
