Well, the ACLU’s place in my heart has been claimed by A03 already, but good to hear The FIRE is stepping up to a broad free-speech mission even off campus. They came out of the conservative side of ’90s culture wars, but even when things line up opposite I reliably hear about them receiving calls for backup, showing up with broad-spectrum capabilities, and then months later when things have moved on publicizing resolutions to create a sense of precedent and momentum. If anyone’s ready to be promoted a league it’s them.
