Hypothesis: the more trans(femme) a scene becomes, the more complaining about a lack of woman representation there will code as TERFery. Consequently, transing up a scene is an effective way to ward off many noxious elements of feminism, even as the scene becomes more progressive, more woman, and nominally more feminist.
