My mom was big into “near death experiences” when I was young – she was honestly into a bunch of ‘70s woo, crystals around the house and going to a chiropractor (she had scoliosis, so spinal alignment really was the source of a lot of her issues) and Communion-ass pre-X-Files alien abduction stuff.

Anyway, just tried to bond with her over this and all I’ve learned and experienced of dissociation since then, and like it wasn’t “it didn’t go well” as euphemism for creating more problems, but it did not succeed and I do not have hope that further productive avenues remain.
