One thing I’d like to see is a straight-up comparison of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries. Presumably both military traditions ran through the Red Army in the Soviet period, how have they diverged since? Did they come out of the breakups with a similar composition of units, or asymmetric? How? How have they invested and specialized differently since? Are there significant differences in doctrine, or relationships between military branches? How are their relative forces recruited, on what terms?
