It’s not about values, about cutting off social contact with Russians or “othering” them or anything. It’s a trade matter: European higher education has been developed and managed as an export industry: exporting the service of education by enrolling foreign students. And these countries are severing trade ties with Russia.
This may recur in a polarizing world; foreign students prop up many US universities and much of Australian higher education – a growing share of Australia, period – doesn’t make any sense without Chinese students.
