Bodily integrity’s just another aesthetic

but what benefits could the exposed aesthetic provide that are comparable to the benefits of uninjured hands that you get from pursuing bodily integrity? With uninjured hands you can like do stuff easier, or at all

A feeling of authenticity not only in using things barehanded but in engagement with the body’s natural cycle of injury and recovery

And I suppose some lingering cultural bias against having soft, unlined hands, even as that’s become pretty unmoored from its origins as a class signifier

I mean I wear gloves on motorcycles, and helmets, and leather jackets that aren’t padded and I’m not sure would even stand up to road rash abrasion so much as act as sacrificial armor and scrape and tear instead of my skin

.…well, in summers I don’t wear the jacket unless I’m taking the freeway and wear sandals, that’s kinda squiddy, fair
