So historically a lot of The West’s thing with Japan was we encountered this culture that in no way descended from the Ancient Greeks and we were like “holy shit, battlefield formations, workshop industry, plays, competitive poetry, mountainside temples to nature gods, that’s all just a thing for humans, huh?”
