I think the amazing thing about the Portland shootings is the fact that it doesn’t really seem to be considered major or important news by the major networks? I only heard about it like once or twice on npr when it first happened. Like if an antifa person walked up to a crowd of proud boys and unloaded a handgun into them at point blank range after a short verbal argument it would be SPLASHED all over the news as proof of how you can’t trust the “crazy violent BLM antifa rioters”. And yet we have active proof here that the right wing in this country is at the point now where they come to peaceful protests for the sole purpose of murdering activists and yet there’s no media hysteria or mass crackdown. I guess there’s no anti-gun angle you can spin with this because the attacker was shot by an armed protestor (wait so guns can defend you from bad people? Wow I never knew that!!) so maybe the liberal outlets just feel like there isn’t a story there for them if they can’t tie it to gun control since post-school/church/etc mass shootings with higher powered guns are usually the only time they discuss acts of gun violence in detail

They’ve got impressively locked-down to the point I didn’t see the fatality’s name until police released it, even as I saw people personally mourn her, shutting up to give people nothing to spin their own stuff from only works if you’re deferring to a communications team that puts out a message calibrated for your side
