to date, cats have not passed the mirror test. this means that they do not appear capable of self-recognition in a mirror (only 9 species do, other than humans, so they’re in good company).

what that means is that this cat is not recognizing itself in this mirror setup. however, it appears friendly and inquisitive about the mystery cat and is not in any distress.
