The devil is trying to take Job\u2019s soul:</p><p><figure data-orig-height=\"256\" data-orig-width=\"256\"><img src=\"/media/fca6e5cc98fc75dbeddf5ad05be10b07c3baf6ca_38fb517e7b76.png\" data-orig-height=\"256\" data-orig-width=\"256\" alt=\" But the Lord said to Satan, Whence cometh\n the consternation of the lamb? and whither\n goest Thou among\n sinners?\n 11. The angel of the Lord answered, whose\n going out is with stork? and whose going in is\n with the stork? 12. I know that thou knowest\n it, and thou knowest that I know. 13. But\n wherefore hast thou set a watchmen\"></figure></p></blockquote>\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t remember this part of the Book of Job. What translation of the Bible are you reading? </p></blockquote>\n\n<p>The Book of Job is really pretty short. This is from the King James Version (translated by William Tyndale). The Book of Job begins like this:</p><blockquote>\u201cThen the Lord said to Satan: \u2018Where have you<p> gone, and wherein have you defiled yourself? For</p><p> hear! From my lips, from the Almighty Lord of all</p><p> being, who has made the expanse above the earth.</p><p> Who separates the waters from the sea, and makes it</p><p> go down below the horizon. Who makes the river into</p><p> a mighty flood and the dry land into a river, setting</p><p> apart the sea with His right hand, and forming it</p><p> with His left hand, dividing the river into the seven<figure data-orig-height=\"256\" data-orig-width=\"256\"><img src=\"/media/16c84cbb231570afb3fd0c742f367e2ca45ec654_1205eef43ca3.png\" data-orig-height=\"256\" data-orig-width=\"256\" alt=\"\n&lt;/blockquote&gt;\n The devil says he took Job's soul in order to have sex with him, and God says the devil is going to suffer a horrible punishment for it:\n\n&lt;blockquote&gt;&quot;It is not so with thee, O wicked and deceitful\n man. We\u2019re reading the KJV because that\u2019s the version God used to speak directly to him. We don\u2019t know <i>why</i> God used to speak directly to him (for the same reason the devil is here: because Job sinned in some way) \u2013 but if you\u2019re in an argument with someone, sometimes it\u2019s better to read the things they say they believe than to ask them what they meant.</p><p> That\u2019s the first thing I had to pick out \u2013 I only read the first couple of pages and it was too short to tell what Job meant \u2013 but it doesn\u2019t seem obviously wrong, and it\u2019s something I\u2019ve often wondered about.</p></blockquote>", "thumbnail_url": "https://kontextmaschine.com/media/69a9d6365b9aed12f57d24dfebda1de1038cb32f_a0af3f22236f.png", "thumbnail_width": 256, "thumbnail_height": 256}
