Gonna watch Heavy Metal tonight. Yesterday I watched a pretentious black and white Italian drama about a troubled marriage so I’ve earned it.

Weird movie. You expect an anthology film to be uneven, but this one puts the worst stories, with the worst writing and sometimes embarrassingly cheap animation at the beginning and end, with the decent-ish ones in the middle. That’s the opposite of how you’re supposed to do it! And even the best parts were mid tier so overall 👎

Also not to get all feminist but I think this movie treats its women more as sex objects than anything else I’ve ever seen. I guess they knew their audience of 13 year old boys in the 80s? Not even that hot tbh.

It’s funny that for like a decade we were like “Yeah, horny styley biomechanical science fiction comics! Nice going, the French!” before we realized that was supposed to be Japanese
