My guess as to 'vaccines cause autism' is 'kids with a high mutational load are more likely to die from childhood illnesses and more likely to suffer from mental illness if not'. Autism and high-IQ, meanwhile, shows the flaws of IQ testing IMO - dealing with isolated problem instead of big open uncertain scope with lots of irrelevant and misleading information (how good are the reflexes of high-IQ autists?)
