This is the nature of all fiction but maybe it\u2019s not a good way of measuring scope? Like I\u2019m inclined to say that e.g. LOTR is \u201cbigger\u201d than Star Trek because the world is more fleshed out, even if it\u2019s diegetically smaller.</p></blockquote><p>Okay, then how about this: there&rsquo;s a bit character from TNG who just appeared on Lower Decks some 32 years after her last onscreen appearance. I say *onscreen* appearance, because there is a *74-novel-long series of books* about her. </p><p>I, who have been reading Star Trek novels for my entire life, have never read *even one* of the novels in this series.</p></blockquote><p>Ok, fair.
