Unlike America, China has actually endured genuine mass hardship on a catastrophic scale, in living memory. Every time a few Marines get blown to bits it’s a month of weepy mourning and a crisis for the government. Imagine when it’s the entire pacific fleet.
God, do you know how pathetically weepy the Israelis get about their casualties? And yet.
