As a reminder, my sensei trained Keanu once, and not only did he totally affirm the image of him as a great guy, he said that
A) he’s flush for life off Matrix residuals
B) he doesn’t think he has the acting chops to be a great thespian (he attributes a lot of his success to getting some neck vertebrae fused in childhood so that when he turns his head to look at things his shoulders follow, which directors think looks “dynamic”)
So at this point he’s basically in the game as a hobby, to get stuff he likes made (John Wick was his longtime stunt guy’s directorial passion project)
