Robert Moog was in the orbit of Cornell University when he made his synthesizer, and decades later I took an “Introduction to Music Theory through Digital Music Technology” course from a guy who as an undergraduate had been the original beta tester
He was kind of a space case and I didn’t really learn much music theory, but I got to monkey around in labs of tracker/ReBirth/sampler Macs with racks full of MOTU units (that constantly lost track of how to communicate with each other) Anyway, reportedly Moog and his co-lead got all excited that it was finally done, called him in to try it out, and the first thing he did was patch a cable wrong and the unit caught fire.
