Finally picked my ObamaCare for the year. First year I realized I’m not really choosing between Regence, Moda, Providence, BridgeSpan, PacificSource and Kaiser Permanente and their branded hospitals but rather the Choice, Beacon, RealValue, Connect, Navigator, OHSU, Alliance, Legacy, and Kaiser provider networks with insurer frontends

There’ve been several attempts to establish it, ObamaCare and “HillaryCare” just in my lifetime. Ronald Reagan dropped a spoken word album against one in 1961!
The thing is we never had a Prussian model of national welfare (the VA comes pretty close tho!) and we never had a united party in a strong enough position as Clement Attlee’s Labour founding the NHS after WWII
Doctors, who as a pillar of local communities as practice-owning professionals, up there with lawyers and ministers as the postgraduate-educated, heavily Republican elite outside of major cities, didn’t want to be employees or civil servants!
Of course since then insurers and I guess these middleman networks climbed upstream of them, to the point I hear the chance for doctors to be salaried, clock in-and-out at regular hours employees of like ZoomCare is now more appealing.
And everyone assumes their country as the default others are on teleological path towards so then they’re like “Ah, now nothings stopping you!” But like, these corps took the bag from doctors after doctors defended it from Congress, why would you assume Congress can take the bag from them?

Also, gentry takes capital gains, not income, so I qualify for some nice subsidies and cost-sharing, that feels a little weird.
