One of my roommates moved out last month and seems to have given me the parting gift of lice in my bedroom, via his pissy old cat.

I’m trying to take it in stride, as an opportunity to enrich my understanding of premodern (as recent as ‘50s noir or maybe '70s blaxploitation) accounts of marginal life and of terms like “lice-ridden” and “lousy”
