I mean it’s almost a load-bearing element of the spy genre by now. The Austin Powers movies existed in relation to James Bond, Smiley is significantly not James Bond, Jason Borne is the max of what a secret agent could conceivably do with training and solid support but not goofy gadgets, really the point is a “female equivalent”’s thing would be being a woman, unlike James Bond
